Or was, or whatever, it was busy! Hence the no blogging since Saturday, sorry, I desperately wanted to blog, but all my blogs would have been vents, so maybe it's better that I waited so I have a chance of still having some blog friends since now you'll only have to read one venting blog instead of six. :)
So, Monday, started at 8:30 with a women's doctor appointment, those are always a nice way to start the week. From there it was grocery shopping and piano lessons, 13 of them, starting with my brother in law. My brother in law is one of those gifted kids who has an amazing vocabulary, one that includes every swear word there is and he's not afraid to use them at me. The "c" word is standard in most sentences. And the "s" word isn't far behind it. Did I mention he's 8? Yeah, everything would have tasted like to soap to me if I talked like him when I was a kid. Finally got home just after 8:00pm and had to finish the Beef Stew dinner that had sat in the crockpot all day. Thankfully that was delicious and warm and comforting after working all day.
Tuesday was even more fun, but requires a little backstory, so I'll be brief. Basically, I spent 3 1/2 hours in the rain breaking down 8 foot pieces of drywall into 3x3' tiles for the garbage and scraping plaster remains of of rotting pieces of wood so the wood could be burned. It was cold, dirty, heavy work. Do you know how much a 6x8' piece of drywall weighs? Or a 6x8' section or plaster coated rotted wood? They weigh more than I do, that's for sure. But I got it done, stubbornness is a good thing sometimes. :) From there I went home, grabbed a 30 second shower and some clean clothes and went to lessons for the next 6 hours. Thankfully Tuesday is Adam's takeout night, so no cooking required. Panera and NCIS in bed finished my night.
Wednesday we were getting our satellite TV installed, call me spoiled, but I grew up with 250 channels (though I only watched about 10 of them) and always had satellite radio for background noise. When we got married we couldn't afford TV, so we were stuck with 4 channels, unless you count PBS, which I don't, but then we'd have 5. Now we have satellite, but that meant being here for the Dish Network guy instead of doing something fun on my first morning off. It didn't help my mood any that he showed up at 8:02am. You know how when they say between 8:00am and noon, you plan on noon? Well not this time! I answered the door in a hair towel and sweats straight out of the shower. To make matters worse, he pulled the door closed when I stepped outside to show him where our landlord said it needed to go and locked me out. So, since the office wasn't opened yet I had to walk through our complex with soaking wet hair in my sweats and flip flops in the 50 degree rain to get a key from maintenance. All before my coffee. He finally got done with the Dish at 11:45, and I left at 12:15 for lessons. Yeah, fun morning off.
Thursday my girlfriend Bethany came over and we went shopping for her. That was a rushed trip, so came home dumped my stuff, grabbed my teaching bag and left for lesson from noon to 6:00, and then worship practice on the other side of town at church from 6:30-8:30, got home at 9:15. Yeah, long day.
So, today was catch up and recoup. Went for coffee, went shopping, (alone!!!) did one lesson and came home and had lunch with a girlfriend. Yay for a good day.
Oh wait, fantasy hockey draft is tonight, which means hockey season starts tomorrow, not to mention our youth group kick off and the kick off of two services which mean worship practice starts at 7:30am, there goes the weekend! I'm waiting for someone to invent an 8th day, or Columbus Day to get here. A three day weekend would be a lifesaver about now.
