Okay, so "motor maintenance" isn't quite accurate, but I have a thing for using alliteration in my blog titles :)
We are now the proud owners of two broken and undriveable cars.
Yep, I said 2.
Both vehicles are now completely dead, isn't that fun.....
I just got off the phone with our mechanic who's looking for the engine for the husband's car as we speak, so hopefully that one will be back on the road by early next week, but my car, our only automatic that I can drive well, is officially dead. Go figure, right after I put a brand new $150 brake line in it last week. Go figure, when I'm going to junk it in 6 weeks when we move. (goodness that's soon!)
The alternator died, which is like a $300 repair, so definitely not worth it. I need to call the mechanic who put in the brake line (not our normal guy cause his mother in law died the day before the brake line did) and see if there's any way I can get even a few bucks back, but I'm not holding out much hope.
So now, the husband's car is going to have to get towed to the shop, get fixed, and I'm going to have to learn how to drive it for real. I can drive stick, I just, let's face it, SUCK at it. Probably because my husband screams at me whenever I go to shift it because he thinks I'm going to shift wrong and his car will disintegrate into a million little pieces while we're in it. But I'm not, I just always do when he screams at me.
So, I'll warn you when we get it back on the road so you can pray that I have to sanity to learn, cause seriously, with my work, I can't be without a car.
I'd be without a car today, but the father-in-law gave us his truck for the week since the mother-in-law is off work this week to catch up around the house, so they can car share. But, that means I have to be all nice and appreciative, kind of stinks, but at least we can get around.
So goes the end of break week, driving around working all day in a monster truck in the snow. Pray the weather's a bit better by next week when I'll hopefully be driving around in a little sporty stick shift.
It's going to be a fun winter....
