I am drained this morning....
I am drained because my husband finally opened up and shared the burden of his drained everything last night....
At 1:00am
His work is not a good fit for him, never has been, but he's always been able to handle it.
He works in a school for troubled teens, the kind of teens that would be in jail if the courts hadn't sentenced them here because of the types of upbringings they'd had prior to committing whatever crimes put them into the court's charge in the first place.
These teens have a set of rules, put out by the school that they're supposed to abide by, and basically, it's my husband's job to enforce those rules while the teachers attempt to get some form of education into them, no matter how much they fight the system.
It's not unusual for my husband to get a bit beat up at this job. Kids don't like they're forbidden items taken away from them, and most of them being tough inner city kids prior to sentencing, they try to take down any staff that keeps them from doing whatever they want. The staff are all trained to put kids into proper state regulated "restraints" when this happens.
Yesterday, my husband had to do one of the above "restraints" on a teen, and the unthinkable happened. Another kid came out into the hall and decided my husband wasn't going to be allowed to restrain the other kid, and jumped my husband from behind.
He's fine, physically, but it scared him good. Especially since it took him essentially throwing the kid off him in order to not get beat up by both of them. Thankfully another employee followed the second kid out and was able to restrain him, but essentially, for about 60 seconds, my husband was getting attacked from both directions.
This is draining for him, mentally and emotionally, because he's been telling his superiors for awhile now that one of his kids is totally unmanageable and has been making threats against him (like stealing a knife or gun on his home visits and killing him for not letting him wear a hat in school) which in reality should be taken seriously, as this kid has come back to school still high and with marijuana to share from his previous home visits, and now can only go to his grandma's.
It's a messed up system.
So, my husband took a personal day today and is setting up a meeting with the school principle about getting more support staff in his group, or switching out the threatening kid to another class.
We're 6 weeks from leaving, so he can't really quit now, but we can't take the risk of him getting hurt either.
Just please pray for this to smooth over, staying up crying with my husband until 2:30am is not something I want to be doing regularly.

Wow! I am so sorry that you and your husband are having to go through this. Does this kind of confirm to you that the move is a good thing? I will pray God's hand of protection over your hubby for the remainder of the job. Remember, He will give His angels charge over him. Does he have a job in Texas lined up yet? Praying..Becky
SO sorry to hear this. I will be praying
