Where oh where does our money go?

So, one car is dead, another is dying and we have absolutely no savings whatesoever. Yeah, this is a big problem.

We still owe $2k on the car that's completely dead, and the dying car is probably only worth $2k, so if we trade it in, we have to get the dealership to give us the $2k as cash back to pay off the other dead car we want to fix, or trade in both cars, which would not be pleasant with our work schedules. We can't afford two car payments right now, we're barely affording all our other bills.

My husband keeps saying how he knows God's supposed to be supplying things to meet our needs, and two functioning, at least mobile cars, seems like a need, but maybe it's not. Maybe we can function on one for longer than temporarily. I'm actually okay with the one car idea, I don't mind it, it's my husband who thinks having his fun little stick is a necessity. I think trading in both cars gets us a better chance of getting the dead one paid off, but who knows.

A couple of years ago, almost two actually, our old bank completely ripped us off. When my husband changed jobs, his last paycheck from his old work was a bank issued paycheck instead of the normal direct deposit. I deposited before noon, the day it was issued, from the bank next door to ours (same branch and everything) and they put a 5 day hold on it. Well, according to the ATM the next morning, the money was in our account, so I paid the first half of the month's bills, as I always do. A week later we started getting late notices, and a day or two after that I card was frozen. I went to see what the delay was and why our debit cards wouldn't work, and they said we were over $1k overdrawn because the paycheck had just cleared. And oh wait, they ceased the entire paycheck plus $400 more, in fees. And when I put up a fight for an explanation they gave back $200 in fees, still leaving us $2200 in the hole, and told me I wasn't warranted anything more because I obviously didn't know how to handle money. So, I went to corporate, who did nothing, and the FDIC who did nothing. So, basically, we got stuck paying back the money to the bank, which we're still doing. We lived off savings for 2 weeks until the next paycheck came and now have a crappy credit score, which is gradually coming around, but I don't know what that's going to do to getting a car loan.

Nowadays they'll do almost anything to sell a car, but I don't know if our 635 is good enough to get financing. What do you think?
