WWWAT

Pop Goes the Weasel
(just plain fun!)

The Entertainer
(sticks with kids for years!)

Fur Elise
(at any level really, there are so many edited versions!)

William Tell Overture
(hilarious with 10 year old boys!)

Moonlight Sonata
(the masterpiece, un-edited edition, a HUGE achievement for any student!)

These are some of my favorite pieces to teach and play with my students, from the beginning of the musical skills, to the end that any of them have obtained so far, some of them are starting to be ready for more and I can't wait to see what the next hardest piece one of them is ready for is. Each week as I help them grow, and get to grow in my teaching abilities is huge for me! When a kid achieves a goal, or finishes a book, or gets a recital song memorized, and they get so excited, I get excited with them. These pieces have been some of the ones that have led to the most excitement.

Hey I do remember your husband vaguely.

My dad is actually the Vice President of LEAH which is a homeschooling group. He is obviously hugely into homeschooling. I loved the way my mom homeschooled us because she is very much not the stereotypical homeschool mom. She had us involved in all kinds of things and she taught us to think outside of the box....your comments were very helpful!! We'll keep in touch!

How sweet to be a part of the kids development like this! I'd love for my son to start piano soon.

What a great idea! I would like my son to take piano lessons, he LOVES music so I figure the piano would be the best place to start:)

I think it is very possible that we have met before. I am not from Rochester, I am from Long Island, but I have gone up MANY times to homeschool conventions and such. My maiden name was Hugo. I also know the Forrest family which I believe is from that region. I think they were the reps there. Sound familiar?

Actually Stefanie, I recognized the songs. I'm a child of the '70's! I totally understand the whole reality check thing. Hubby & I waited to have our children but most of our friends didn't & they are all grandparents! Talk about reality check.
