
Sugar Cookie Cutouts-
Russian Teacakes-
1 C Softened Butter
1/2 C Confectioners Sugar
1 Tsp Vanilla
2 1/4 C Unbleached Flour
1/4 Tsp Salt
3/4 C Finely Chopped Nuts
Preheat Oven to 400 Degrees
Thoroughly mix Butter, Sugar and Vanilla. Work in Flour, Salt and Nuts until dough can be pinched together into balls. Shape into 1" balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes until set but not browned. Remove from cookie sheet, immediately roll in confectioners sugar. Let cool, re-roll in confectioners sugar.
Makes about 30 cookies
Chocolate Snowflakes-
Peanut Butter Blossoms-Back of Hershey Kiss Bag (Thank you Sarah!)
Thumbprints-
1/4 C Softened Butter
1/4 C Shortening
1/4 Packed Brown Sugar
1 Egg- Separated
1/2 Tsp Vanilla
1 C Unbleached Flour
1/4 Tsp Salt
3/4 C Finely Chopped Nuts (optional)
Jelly
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix Butter, Shortening, Brown Sugar, Egg Yolk and Vanilla. Gradually add Flour and Salt. Beat Egg White and set aside. Shape dough into 1" Balls. Dip calls in egg whites then dip into nuts is desired. Place Egg/Nut side up on ungreased cookie sheet. Press thumb or index finger deep into center of each cookie.
Bake 9-11 minutes, or until barely brown. Remove immediately to cooling rack. Allow to cool, fill each "print" with jelly.
Makes 2 dozen.
Sneakerdoodles-
4 1/2 C Flour
4 Tsp Baking Soda
2 Tsp Cinnamon
2 Tsp Ginger
1 Tsp Cloves
1 Tsp Salt
1/2 C Softened Butter
1 C Shortening
2 C Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup Light Molasses
Combine dry ingredients and set aside
Cream together Butter, Shortening and Brown Sugar. Beat in Eggs and Molasses.
Gradually add dry ingredients.
Refrigerate for 2 hours.
Preheat Oven to 375 Degrees.
Roll into 1" balls and dip one side in granulated Sugar. Place Sugar side up on greased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes.
