Show Us Your Life: Receptions and Honeymoons

Yay! Another wedding week of Kelly's "Show Us Your Life" weekly series!

In all honesty, our reception was a blur for me. I quite literally was exhausted beyond anything, and with weddings in general, I'm not a huge fan of receptions. If I could have had it my way, we would have had a ceremony and a time to say hi to people at the church, and just skipped the whole party part. I don't mind attending receptions, I just hate being in the wedding at them. There's so much pressure to make sure everything's running smoothly, and everyone feels welcome, and you have to talk to and hug everyone with so much going on, it's just exhausting! Especially after the wedding, when you're just so relieved to finally be married that you just want to relax together for the first time since you got engaged.

One of the things I do remember though is our fantastic cake! A good friend of mine from my old church owns "Cheesy Eddies" a famous (in Rochester at least) amazing bakery! So, we got a deal through her and had frosted cheesecake for wedding cake. Oh my goodness it was incredible!

So incredible in fact, that Jon tormented me with it the entire reception. Wasn't it gorgeous? I don't blame him for wanting to touch it, but I would have killed him if he had! And, with my 3 1/2 inch stilettos I probably could have :)

Jon was the life of the reception. Getting into everything and entertaining everyone. He seems to have enjoyed it too. Don't worry, we had a non-alchoholic lunch reception.

Our decorations were fairly simple. We were married on Saturday, and Thursday night we spent 2 hours decorating. The chairs were the most time consuming. I was too cheap to rent covers, but I didn't like to chairs, so this was my solution. For $40 worth of tulle I had pretty white fluffy bows on the back of all 166 chairs.

Centerpieces were simple as well. It was a 1:00pm reception, so candles didn't make a ton of sense, and I wanted something low you could easily see and talk over, so floating gerberas it was.

We danced

We laughed

My dad and I laughed our way through about 90 seconds of music to keep him from crying

My little boys ran some music for us.
Jon, with Kevin and Kyle, the boys I nannied for at the time.

My best friend Megan and her now husband Brendon danced to keep us from dancing alone.
It seems people don't like to dance at 3:30 in the afternoon when they haven't had anything to drink. Who knew?

And the guys entertained us with "Cotton Eyed Joe"

Ready to leave on our honeymoon.

Seriously, our honeymoon had to have been the most plain honeymoon of all time. We drove straight from our reception, to the middle of nowhere in Ohio's Amish Country. We rented a cabin, that for the life of me I can't find a picture of, and literally just relaxed. We hardly took any pictures, probably because my camera was still film at the time, and mostly just stayed in and laid around together. We did a little driving around town looking at the scenery, but mostly, we just relaxed together.

Literally, the only picture from our honeymoon of either of us, pathetic huh?

Scenery before a storm

Pretty landscape

And like I said, we mostly just relaxed.

In front of this

And in this!! Alot of this!!

In our bedroom, under a skylight. See, our relaxing wasn't too boring!
